WAKULI STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE PEOPLE OF GAZA Wakuli joins the BDS movement as apartheid free zone and we are closing our doors to all 18 locations this Sunday October 5th in solidarity with Gaza. I’ve personally never felt so unable to do anything meaningful in the face of injustice as I have felt in recent weeks.. And as a company, we've been unsure about what role Wakuli should play, beyond our core mission. But in recent months, and I have had many discussions and decided to engage with the national BDS (Boycott, Divest and Sanction) movement to audit all our suppliers and divest where we can. exists because we believe businesses can fight exploitation. We built our entire company on the idea that short, direct supply chains can end farmer exploitation in coffee. That transparency and fair prices matter more than profit margins. That business can be a force for good. So how do we stay silent when international courts and the UN declare genocide and apartheid? When our government is showing time and time again their inability to do anything remotely meaningful, I feel ashamed for our leaders more often than not. We as a company won’t stay silent. This Sunday, all Wakuli bars will close at noon so our team can join the Rode Lijn demonstration, if they wish to do so. Our closed doors are also a visible expression of solidarity with Gaza and the urgent call for action. Our 18 retail bars have officially become an Apartheid Free Zone. We've audited our suppliers to now divest where we can. We know it's imperfect. We know it's not enough. We know we're relatively small. But if governments won't act, then we - businesses, consumers, individuals - must do everything in our power, however limited that power may be. And we’ve decided to accept the possible backlash. Some will say we should "stick to coffee”, or call our actions performative. But I don’t doubt anymore that we rather face those responses, than be complicit. We cannot be a "mission-driven" company that only takes a stand when it's safe. To our team and stakeholders: thank you for your support to give Wakuli the opportunity to speak out. And many of you have been speaking up long before we did as a company. To our customers or others who have questions or disagree, you can find a link to our full statement and reasoning in the comments. Lukas and I are available for any questions or remarks through To businesses sitting on the fence like we were: I know how scary it can be and to think, “this is not our role”. I know how you feel. But I also know that when we look back at this moment, we won't regret speaking up. We'll regret staying silent. Join the BDS movement! In solidarity, Yorick & Lukas Team Wakuli Learn more:| ,,,,,, …meer

Heading back to the UAE 🇦🇪 – let's connect! (Jan 23 - Feb 4) I’ll be in Abu Dhabi & Dubai end of Jan / early Feb and would love to reconnect with the UAE food ecosystem. After our successful exit from Royal Catering, and I have been building KiCo () in the Netherlands — working closely with food founders, retailers, food service and start up/scale ups across NL & Europe. Now, we’re excited to connect the dots between EU ↔ UAE and explore where the UAE F&B market is heading next. What we're keen to learn ( and exchange insights on): • CPG and semi-finished products gaining traction locally • Key players in retail and food service we absolutely have to meet • Last-mile distribution & retail models • Consumer behaviour — what’s really driving choice today • How the startup / scale-up ecosystem has evolved and who’s shaping it Bonus: any standout agri or food-tech projects we should absolutely see 👀 Who we'd love to meet: Retailers • food service groups • wholesalers • caterers • founders • investors • ecosystem builders shaping the future of food in the region 👉 Drop a comment, DM me, or tag someone who should be on our radar. Also, if you're at let's meet up! Looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones. Can't wait to be back home! See you soon! 🙌 …meer
