In February, I started a new job that involved quite some change: Exchanging Universiteit Utrecht for the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, going from Lecturer to Assistant Professor, and moving from the Philosophy department to the Law faculty. Having settled in now, I'm extremely happy with this transition. Besides more time for my own research on class inequality (among other topics), I get to work on transforming the legal education programmes to include more critical reflection on ethics and awareness of diversity in the law; educational change that will surely have an important impact on our society! Moreover, the VU has a particularly diverse student population with many first-generation, working-class background, non-Western migration background, and students of colour. Working with them feels especially connected and meaningful. I wish to thank my former students and colleagues at the UU for two absolutely wonderful years, during which I got to learn so much while having a very enjoyable time. If not for this unique opportunity suddenly presenting itself, I would've stayed with pleasure, as I now regularly keep visiting with pleasure. Sending you all warm hugs! …meer
