Ups and downs are very much part of my job in grant writing... and reading evaluation reports of rejected proposals is one of those things that doesn't really 'spark joy'. Back to business after spending a relaxing and offline holiday in beautiful Norway! Just like every year, August and September deadlines (mainly for large EU proposals) make it difficult to balance work and Summer holidays. A recurring problem, but funders are unfortunately still reluctant to change timing of their calls. A new low in this is a 2-stage call where the invitation to submit a full proposal came in July, with a deadline early September... To all researchers and colleagues finalizing their grant proposals for upcoming deadlines: best of luck! And make sure to already plan in an extra holiday - or at least some days off - after the deadline. (I'll try and follow my own advice 😉) …meer
