EU-citizens - Let’s vote! voltnederland.org

I wanted to become a candidate for the European election to represent Europeans, especially the ones who like me don't live in their home country. There is something eye-opening and liberating about using the EU right of free movement to live and work (or study) in another EU-country. However, I know from my own experience how difficult it is to stay connected to politics in more than one country. And that it feels frustrating to no being able to vote and get your voice heard in the country that you pay your taxes. That's why the European election is so beautiful: 450million Europeans go to vote on the same weekend. And as a EU-foreigner living abroad, you get to choose to - Vote in your homecountry - Vote in the country you live in Both might have deadlines to register. 24 hours left to go to register to vote in the Netherlands - Don't miss it! >> All info and the links to register: >> Living in ? "Yes, we will be able to produce tomatoes CO2-neutral in our greenhouses in the winter by 2040" - We heard this confident statement during our visit from Jelte van Kammen who is the CEO of Harvest House, one of the Netherlands' biggest cooperatives of greenhouse growers. What a great example that it's possible to change industries and move to a more sustainable future while remaining competitive in the market. The example of Harvest House also shows that when entrepreneurial thinking, ambition and new technologies at scale come together, it is possible to change an industry from within. One of Volt's policy pillars is to transition to a climate-neutral and innovation-friendly economy. And we need a united Europe with open borders for that, especially for food security and maintaining a diverse food choice throughout the year. Here three facts to underline this: - 70% of the vegetables eaten in the Netherlands is produced here, but only 25% of the consumed fruit is produced in the Netherlands. - Almost all produce of the Harvest House is sold in a radius of 800km (so for example Germany and Belgium) - Countries like Germany fully depend on the greenhouse production from the Netherlands for some vegetables like tomatoes At Volt, we see sustainable food production and regenerating our lands as our only way forward. As such, it's imperative to provide farmers and producers of all kind with political and financial support in this tradition. Have a look at our campaign program for more info: and the rest of the team fromand, thank you again for the hospitality and teaching us a great deal about this industry! …meer

The European Elections are coming up on June 6-9. Here is an in-depth view of Volt's plans and policies.

20 Feb 2026

The European elections happen this weekend! 🇪🇺 Tomorrow already in the Netherlands (June 6), and I am on the ballot paper for Volt Nederland (list 17). I stand in this election to promote solutions for a strong, united and sustainable Europe. I am commited to bringing ambitious climate goals and an innovation-friendly economy together, as well as building a society where no one is left behind. 📣 All of today's big problems - climate, inequality, migration - are cross-border problems. Volt goes for European solutions to tackle these problems . From 15 different EU countries we participate with one election program. We build a United Europe together. 🌿 Volt fights climate change. We don't only want a climate neutral Netherlands, but a climate neutral Europe in 2040. We are actually the only party to reach the climate goals by 2030 (source: PBL calculation). Volt is committed to strengthening biodiversity and supporting nature restoration. 🇪🇺 Volt opts for a strong Europe that guarantees its own security. That is why Volt wants one European armed force, with joint investments in defense, in an army and procurement of equipment. ✊ Volt stands strongly behind human rights and fighting discrimination, improving social mobility and building a society in which we can all thrive. For example through a and fewer barriers for SME businesses, we can unlock Europe’s true potential and share prosperity across Europe. If you're not yet familiar with Volt, check out our websiteor send me a message with your questions. I'm happy to answer whatever comes up. It is time for renewal, optimism and progress. Vote Volt in this European election. Greetings from Verena …meer

Volt won 5 seats for the European parliament in the election last weekend (2 from the Netherlands, 3 from Germany)! It's now been a few days, the news digested and our new team of MEPs has already been in Brussels all week to prepare the official start of the mandate! I highly recommend following the work of,,,andin the next 5 years. Thank you again for everyone who supported Volt, voted for me and Volt, talked about us within their network and simply shared our positive story of Europe 🇪🇺💜 As a political startup five years ago, Volt won one seat. Now we grew x5, the voices of our voters are heard and we will make sure to stay strong for European values in the future. In this current political climate, the far right is strong and well-funded, populist narratives capture screen time in the media and people make fear-based decisions. And here is Volt as the clear opposition, a positive and pro-European voice that stands for a diverse society and a sustainable and thriving European economy. Even if the wider outlook is grim, we are a success story of this election. And Volt is here to stay. I’m so proud to having been part of this journey in an inspiring group of candidates and investing my free time and energy into something so meaningful. Big thank you to everyone who voted for me and for Volt and who supported from the sidelines! Especially our local campaign team in Amsterdam has been amazing! If you feel like you are still recovering from a hangover feeling after the election results, take the next step and funnel your energy into action, the options are endless. You can join a NGO, local community group, or join one of the democratic parties and get involved on the political side. I experienced the limiting belief that politics is not the right space for me and I had always been on the side of activists… until I came across Volt. Only then I realised that politics is what we make of it. It NEEDS to be the right space for everyone. We all need to sit at the table. And it needs to be a collaborative and open space. Volt is paving the way. Do you want to join? All info here: …meer

“How can you have a positive impact working in marketing?” It’s a question I’ve heard often—and my answer is simple: ▫️ Market products that make a positive impact ▫️ Change consumer behavior towards conscious choices At Fairphone, I get to do both. Lucky me. is known for pushing the boundaries of sustainable product innovation, but what we talk about less (and what I’m most proud of) is how we engage with our customers. We listen to them. We educate and support them as much as we can. Hopefully we inspire them. Essentially, we walk with them on their journey to keep their phones in use as long as possible. That’s why launching our latest Impact Report was a proud milestone: it features not just a deep dive into our amazing community, but also some of the lighthouse projects I’ve initiated and worked on with my incredible team. 𛰨 The Keep Club - the first loyalty program that rewards you for keeping a product longer 𛰨 The Fairphone Timeline - an app feature that visualises and gamifies the experience of extending the lifetime of your Fairphone 𛰨 Post-purchase automations - relevant and engaging touchpoints over 5 years, for example reminding customers to replace their battery when it starts getting weaker Read here If the full report feels a bit much, drop a comment or DM—I’ll happily share a snackable version. Thank you also to my former customer journey dream team:for loving customer insights as much as I do. Andfor taking over the Keep Club baton and running with it with passion. …meer

Wednesday was one of these special days that you think back on: wow, we did it! The new Fairphone hit the market and it's a jump forward on many levels: It's the most sustainable smartphone we have ever developed, the best performing device and certainly the most beautiful one. I am still happily using my 4-year old Fairphone 4, but this new Fairphone is admittedly tempting me to switch... Also the way this 6th generation Fairphone was launched makes the next era of Fairphone visible, taking sustainable electronics out of the niche and making our products relevant for a wider audience. The photos are from our event in , but also our Live and activations with retail and network partners across Europe have been a massive success! I am so proud to be part of this new milestone and thank you to the entire Fairphone team - for being the best team - and all partners, journalists, reviewers, influencers who came from near and far. Special thanks toandfor your last sprint of helping us fill the room. Looking forward to continuing our project together! …meer

Last week was a moment to say goodbye... ... to four years in Fairphone's Work Council (ondernemingsraad). Almost two terms as the Chair of the Works Council deserves a thank you and appreciation post for the colleagues with whom I worked, learned and achieved many milestones: Atwe work every day for better working conditions in the electronics supply chain and have industry leading programs to set the bar higher. But we also strive to walk-the-talk internally and give the Works Council extra space amongst all the great initiatives that make Fairphone a great place to work. I enjoyed this work a lot as it offers the opportunity to see beyond the scope of your own role, and bring sentiment and insights from colleagues into the decision processes. After all, it's the people that make a company... If you are interested in joining a Works Council, I highly encourage it for everyone! While it's been an overall positive experience for me, here the three main challenges for full transparency 😉 - The mission of the Works Council is to represent the company and employees, keep this balance in mind - The Works Council is not a recruited team, but an elected, voluntary team. To be effective, this calls for focus on team building and a strong leader - In the Netherlands, the Works Council has about one hour per week to work on their topics, this requires healthy and radical prioritization For those who are not familiar with what the Dutch Works Council is, here my service of the official definition (don't mistake it for a union!). A Works Council (Ondernemingsraad) is a participation and co-decision body within a company. It consists of elected employees who consult with the management board on behalf of the staff about company policy and staff interests. Every company in the Netherlands with 50 or more employees is obliged to have its own Works Council. Big thank you as well to the management boards that I had the opportunity to work with and learn from over the four years! Special mention to,, Oscar Visser and …meer

I have to admit, I didn’t quite make it. We encourage our Fairphone users to keep their devices for at least 5 years, we even have a company KPI to manifest this. But after 4 good years with my Fairphone 4, I gave in to the temptation of something smaller and lighter… After a month of using the new Fairphone (Gen. 6), here’s my very personal review of our newest device. 🌀 Switching device - transfer of data : Like for many consumers, the fear of going through this process kept my new device in the box for a good two weeks. Once I started, it was extremely smooth and fast! My own fault that I didn't back up my Signal messages, which I lost. 📱 Touch and feel: Amazing! I have relatively small hands and the Gen. 6 is much easier to hold and do basic things one-handed. 🔋🪫 Battery charge: I am not a heavy user, and it's lasting me easily 2 days. This is the observation from last week when usage time has been between 1-3 hours per day. 📸 Camera: Since the camera is always important, I attached some pictures I took during my holidays. See for yourself what you think of the pictures taken by a very average photographer like me. 🧘🏻‍♀️ Fairphone Moments: While I love the opportunity to use the Moments feature and turn the phone into a dumb phone, I don't use it as much as I expected. Seems like I am living more in the moment than I need to be concerned about. However, my personal recommendation: Setting up a private and a work profile - flip off all work related notifications with one click (see screenshot of my set-up attached). We deliver this by default on all Android-operated Fairphones. This has been my switch for more peace of mind already on my Fairphone 4. 👜 Lanyard: My favourite accessory by far! I have to admit I lost one screw already, but the lanyard still works to be attached at one side. I noticed that my phone sometimes turns off when I wrap the lanyard around and put it in my purse. The compromise solution here is activating the pocket mode. All in all, I'm very satisfied with my new Fairphone and can full-heartedly recommend it to everyone who's looking for a long-lasting, quality phone. Of course I am not fully objective as I have seen all the hard work from my brilliant team atto deliver this 🫶🏻 Still, my phone is my daily driver and needs to fit my expectations. Let my know if you're curious about any other features or specs. (In the picture with two phones you see the Fairphone 4 on the left, new Fairphone Gen. 6 on the right, both with protective case) …meer

I had the opportunity to go back to the Universiteit van Amsterdam for the second time for a guest lecture for the Master students in their course "Ethics and the future of business". Spot on to use Fairphone as a case study for combining ethical practises and impact businesses. A huge thank you to Arad Ahi for the wonderful opportunity—it was a lot of fun! My presentation centered on Fairphone as a case study and our journey to establish a viable market for ethical electronics. We dove deep into our four key impact areas - Raw Materials: Sourcing fair and recycled materials. - Working Conditions: Committing to improved working conditions and living wage programs. - Device Longevity: Designing phones that are built to last longer with long-term software support. - Repair and Recycle: Championing repairability and e-waste neutrality. The most engaging part was discussing some real-world ethical dilemmas that we come across in our work every day, for example using the advertising capabilities of major tech giants. It’s inspiring to see the next generation of business leaders so passionate about shaping a more responsible industry. Keep those tough questions coming! …meer
