A bit more than a week ago I've completed my internship at the Financial Planning & Analysis Labs Team of IDEXX It was a great experience with new challenging tasks everyday, room for personal development, and an amazing team to work with that really values your input! Afgelopen halfjaar heb ik gewerkt als Junior Fiatteur bij Zakelijk Inkomen Hier waren genoeg uitdagende taken en werd ik uitstekend begeleid (zelfs tijdens het thuiswerken) om mijn taken goed te kunnen uitvoeren. Er wordt nog altijd gezocht naar meer mensen om het team te komen versterken, dus als je een affiniteit hebt met de financiele wereld zou Zakelijk Inkomen misschien iets voor je kunnen zijn! Beste Netwerk, Ken jij een student die affiniteit heeft met internationale studenten, en ook nog een woning zoekt in amsterdam? Voor het international student housing team, van de Universiteit van Amsterdam en Hogeschool van Amsterdam, zoeken wij nog een aantal Resident Assistants (RAs) die het RA programma kunnen ondersteunen. RAs zijn nederlands sprekende HvA/UvA studenten die samenwonen met nieuwe internationale studenten en ze helpen d.m.v. activiteiten voor ze organiseren, een goede sfeer op het pand creëren, en in nauw contact met ze staan voor alle vragen die ze hebben over het pand en Amsterdam! Voor het optimaal kunnen uitvoeren van de functie, vergoed de Universiteit van Amsterdam de kamer op de locatie waar de RA werkzaam zal zijn. It isn't very often that I write a post on LinkedIn, but I would like to highlight that I had the pleasure in participating a great project for the past 3 years called "Operation Santa". Operation Santa is a project that started in 2020, from the International Student Housing team of theandin collaboration with, to prevent students from being lonely during the COVID-19 lockdown. For example, students could not return to their families during the holidays because of the lockdown and were confined to their rooms alone. The UvA/AUAS wanted to encourage and support the international students living on campus and this was still a relevant subject even after the lockdowns. Thus, yesterday we distributed chocolates and holiday postcards (including a qr code) to 3000+ student rooms of the UvA/HvA! This qr code contained lots useful information such as where to find a student counsellor or to how to join ESN events to make new friends! We received lots of amazing comments from students that received the gifts, but also from employees and other organizations that were very supportive of this initiative for student wellbeing. Especially funny for me personally, is that this project started when I was a local student board member of ESN Amsterdam, and 2 years later for this edition I graduated and started working at the university and was now one of the university employees leading this project from the University side! Happy to share that I will be a speaker at the Erasmus Generation Meeting, where 900+ participants from all over the Erasmus Student Network come together in Romania this year to learn new (soft)skills, network with each other and learn more about mobility programs in general. In one of the many sessions held at this event, I will be covering the topic with some other speakers, "how volunteering got us our current jobs". Because as some of you know, even though I finished a Masters degree in accounting, I actually work now at theas a project manager where I led/participated in projects related to improving the experience of students at the University. Even though this is a completely different field than accounting, thanks to volunteering I managed to enter this amazing job that I probably would not have been in without a volunteering experience. I was always a big advocate for people to not just confine their jobs to their field of studies, and I am now very glad that other speakers and I have a platform to speak about this topic! 😄 Thanks toand Lucci Varenina for preparing the session and the organising, programme and content comittee for letting this event happen in the first place! …meer

KANDIDAAT GEMEENTERAADSVERKIEZINGEN AMSTERDAM Met veel plezier kan ik mededelen dat ik #14 ben op de lijst van Volt Amsterdam voor aankomende gemeenteraadsverkiezingen! 💜 Maar nu denk je misschien: waarom staat Bora nou weer op de lijst? Zoals sommigen van jullie mij waarschijnlijk al kennen, ben ik een nieuws- en politiekfanaat en heb ik ook veel meningen over hoe politiek bedreven wordt in Nederland. In plaats van alleen langs de zijlijn te staan roepen over alles wat beter zou kunnen, is misschien toch het moment daar gekomen dat ik echt met mijn ideeën naar voren kom, en ze niet alleen met mensen om mij heen bespreek. Daarnaast vind ik een aantal thema’s belangrijk om hoger op de politieke agenda te zetten, zoals betaalbaar wonen en sociale cohesie in de stad. 🏠🤝 Ik heb zelf veel geluk gehad dat ik na mijn studie een sociale jongerenwoning heb kunnen bemachtigen. Maar wat was het na een hospiteeravond, wanneer een huisgenoot vertrok, ook altijd jammer dat ik niet iedereen een kamer in ons huis kon aanbieden. Ook op mijn werk zie ik veel jongeren die het lastig vinden om een goed huis te vinden. Ik vind dat een goede en betaalbare plek om te wonen een recht is voor iedereen in de stad. 🏘️ Daarnaast heb ik een Turks-Nederlandse achtergrond en heb ik veel (vrijwilligers)werk gedaan m.b.t. integratie van mensen uit het buitenland in Amsterdam. Helaas heb ik vanuit dat perspectief ook gemerkt dat wij vaak in bubbels leven in de stad en dat er soms weinig interactie is tussen verschillende groepen mensen. Mijn droom is dan ook dat wij allemaal samen kunnen genieten van de cultuur die Amsterdam te bieden heeft. Zodat wij in de stad niet naast elkaar als verschillende gemeenschappen leven, maar MET elkaar! 🏙️ Laatste vraag: waarom Volt? Ik heb al veel op Europees niveau gewerkt bij het Erasmus Student Network, waar wij de ideeën/best practices van andere landen met elkaar konden uitwisselen en ook in je eigen stad of land kon toepassen. Dan draag ik natuurlijk graag bij aan een politiekepartij die ook deze mooie gedachtegang heeft. Dus ik zou zeggen: met Europees denken en lokaal doen, kunnen wij bouwen aan onze toekomst! 🌍 Ga dus zeker stemmen op 18 maart! Woon jij zelf niet in Amsterdam, maar ken jij wel mensen die hier wonen? Vertel ze dan vooral dat ik kandidaat ben met bovenstaande ideeën. 🗳️📣 PS: Ken je mij wel, maar Volt nog niet zo goed?
